Founded by Diana Dai, a Canadian Screen Award (Gemini) winner in 2009, the company aims to broaden perspectives and bridge cultural differences through compelling storytelling. Diana’s films have been broadcast on CBC, TVO, Alliance Films, Bell Media Inc., Vision TV, and the Documentary Channel, and internationally across the US, Europe, and Asia, earning numerous awards at international film festivals. Her work is also housed in prestigious universities such as Harvard, Princeton, Stanford, and UC Berkeley, and in national libraries worldwide.
A native of China, Diana co-founded and hosted the Mandarin program for OMNI TV upon immigrating to Canada from the UK. Trained at Warner Bros. Studio and the School of Cinematic Arts at the University of Southern California, Diana holds a Master’s degree in Communication Studies from the University of Leeds in the UK. She has worked as an editor for a bilingual magazine and taught Chinese at the university level.
Diana has received fellowships from the Ontario Media Development Corporation for the HotDocs International Festival, the CTV National Fellowship for the Banff World TV Festival, the Netflix-Banff Diversity of Voices Initiative, the National Screen Institute, the EVAE BIPOC Producer Program, and the Whistler film festival Producer Lab.
In addition to her filmmaking career, Diana is passionate about education, having taught Television and Film at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology and contributed as an editor and writer for the textbook “Television in its Social Context.” She has also been a featured speaker at the University of Toronto, Queen’s University, the University of Ontario Institute of Technology, Tsinghua University, and Fudan University.
